Annotate Slide: Let the Whole Room Draw on One Image
Put a map, chart or design on screen and let everyone mark it from their phone. The big screen layers every drawing as a heat map, lines or a gallery.
Some questions are easier to answer by pointing. Where should the extra coffee station go? Which part of this chart surprised you? Where is the error on this diagram? An Annotate slide puts one image on every phone. Each person draws on it and sends one drawing, and your screen layers them all on the image.
Set up the slide
Add an Annotate slide and its image
In the editor, choose Annotate as the question type and add the image people will draw on under Question media: a floor plan, a map, a chart, a screenshot or a diagram. Write the question above it.
Say what people should do
Pick a task: Circle it (find the thing on the image), Mark a spot (one tap per person), Draw an arrow (a direction or a link) or Free draw. The phone shows a matching hint, so people know what you are asking.
Add zones, if you want counts
Zones are optional. Drag on the image to add one, then name it, up to 8. A drawing counts for a zone if it touches it, and the big screen ranks the zones. Mark one zone as the Answer to show how many people found it.
Run it live
People draw on their phones
When you reach the slide, every phone shows the image full screen with a small dock: pen, marker or highlighter, five colours, undo, clear and Send drawing. Touch, mouse and pen all work. Each person sends one drawing.
Reveal, then switch the view
Your screen counts drawings as they come in. Choose Reveal when you are ready. Heat shows where the room drew, with the zones ranked. Lines draws every stroke on the image. Whatever you pick, the display link follows.
Walk through the drawings one by one
Gallery shows one drawing at a time, with its position in the set, so you can talk through individual answers. Manage drawings lets you Hide one from the screen and Show it again.
Everyone sees where they stand
After the reveal, each phone shows You and the room: that person's own drawing on top of the room's heat. Nobody sees anyone else's drawing on their phone.
Good to know
- Annotate runs in a live, presenter-led session. It is not available in a self-paced survey or link.
- It has no score. Results and exports show how many drawings came in.
- The slide needs an image, and images on slides come with Pro and Premium.
- A hidden drawing never shows on the projected screen.
Ideas to try
- Events: a venue plan before the day starts, "Where would you look for the coat check?"
- Teaching: a labelled diagram with one zone set as the answer, "Circle the mitochondria."
- Product teams: a screenshot of a new screen, "Mark the first thing you would tap."
- Workshops: a chart, "Draw an arrow to where you think this line goes next quarter."
