How PollsLive uses AI

Last updated: November 5, 2026

PollsLive is built and operated by A Plus Apps, trading as PollsLive. A few optional features, together called Pulse AI, use large language models. This page explains which features those are, what they send, where it goes, and what we never use AI for. It is our transparency notice under the EU AI Act.

1. Features that use AI

Only these features use AI. Everything else in PollsLive, including vote counting, quiz scoring and live open-text grouping, is ordinary software that follows fixed rules.

  • Build with Pulse AI: drafts a deck of questions from a topic or text you give it.
  • Question suggestions: proposes questions, options or a new branch for a poll you are editing.
  • Pulse AI assistant: the help chat in Studio and on the site, which answers questions about PollsLive.
  • AI response digest: when a host chooses to run it, it summarises the open-text answers to one poll. If no AI provider is available, a rule-based engine writes the digest instead.

2. What is sent, and to whom

We send only what the feature needs: the prompt or text you type, and for drafting, the poll content you are working on. Participants' open-text answers leave our servers for AI processing only when a host runs an AI response digest on that poll.

Requests go to OpenRouter (United States), which forwards each one to the provider of the selected model. We route requests only to model providers that do not store prompts or use them for training, and we do not use free model tiers. Participants' open-text answers go only to a provider whose terms forbid keeping them or using them for training. Each provider and its location is named on our Sub-processors page, and transfers outside the EU rely on the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy. Workspace owners and admins can switch on EU-only AI processing in Studio settings: AI features for that workspace then use only providers hosted in the EU, and are unavailable while none is set up.

We do not use your content, your participants' answers or AI output to train our own models. Pulse AI assistant conversations are kept for 180 days after the last message so you can continue a chat and we can improve support quality, then deleted.

3. How AI is labelled

The Pulse AI assistant tells you it is an AI before you send your first message and asks for your agreement before anything you type goes to an AI provider. If you decline, it answers from a fixed list written by our team instead. Drafts made with Build with Pulse AI open in the editor as drafts, not as published polls.

4. You stay in control

AI output can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable. It is a draft: you decide what to keep, edit and publish, and a person always does the publishing. AI features use credits, shown on the pricing page and in Studio before you use them. Our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy set out the rules for AI output.

5. What we never use AI for

We do not use AI to grade or rank people, to score quizzes, to decide who wins a prize draw, or to make any decision about a person that has legal or similarly significant effects. Our Acceptable Use Policy forbids customers from using Pulse AI that way too.
