1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. "Local storage" is a similar browser technology that keeps small amounts of data on your device. We group these into strictly necessary (required to run the Service) and non-essential (used only with your consent).
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are always active because the Service cannot function without them. They do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
- Session cookie (NextAuth) - keeps you signed in to the Studio. Set only after you log in. Expires when your session ends.
- Voter cookie - prevents the same person from voting multiple times on a poll without forcing a login. Contains no personal identifiers.
- CSRF / security tokens - protect sign-in and form submissions against cross-site request forgery.
- Consent record - remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask on every visit (stored in local storage).
3. Local storage
We use browser local storage for strictly functional purposes: interface preferences, a client-side "already voted" UX flag, and your saved nickname for a live session. Server-side duplicate-vote prevention uses an HttpOnly voter cookie plus a hashed IP - not canvas fingerprinting. This local data stays on your device and is not used for advertising.
4. Analytics (consent required)
With your consent, we use privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics to understand how the Service is used and improve it:
- Plausible Analytics - aggregated, anonymous usage statistics. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics - privacy-first page-view measurement. No cookies and no client-side state.
These scripts do not load at all until you accept analytics in the consent banner. If you reject or have not chosen, no analytics are collected. We do not use advertising or third-party marketing cookies.
5. Managing your choice
You can change your decision at any time. Opening the settings below re-displays the consent banner, where you can accept or reject non-essential analytics.
- re-open the cookie banner.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.
6. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
